A DAY SET ASIDE TO BE THE HANDS AND FEET OF JESUS IN OUR COMMUNITY!
Our church will once again be having an all-day community missions day on May 1. We have looked at different projects and designed them to follow Covid Guidelines as outlined in the descriptions below. We are also encouraging families to adopt a project and work together as a “family team” as you serve for the day. Please read the details of the projects, prayerfully consider how you can serve, and sign-up to be Salt and Light to those around us!
1. Small Home Repair
Small home repair projects that can be completed in one day or less (ex: ramps, deck/porch repair, painting, etc.)
2. Care Blankets for Pediatric Patients
Make Fleece blankets for pediatric patients who go into WakeMed Garner ER - blankets will have a small note with Bible verse and church's name sewn into the corner.
3. Small Yard Projects
This will be small yard projects for those in need in homes surrounding the church - raking, clean-up, etc.
4. Laundry Ministry
Contact: Teresa Ball (Team Full)
Volunteers will set up under the awning at "GlamORama at Forest Hills" and give out bags with a laundry detergent pod, softener sheets, and enough money on laundry card for a washer and dryer as well as a snack and have intentional conversations with those they meet
5. Goodies and Notes for Our Police/Fire/EMS
Put together goodies and hand-written notes to take to the police station/Fire stations - all 4... including EMS in those counts
6. Prayer Walk
Praying for our neighborhood, community, nation, and world - small groups to walk/small groups to meet in sanctuary (socially distanced and masked)/small groups to meet on ZOOM for those wanting to participate but not feeling safe or able to be out)
7. Notes of Encouragement/Goodie Bags for The Growing Place Staff
The Yes Sunday School Class will be taking this as a class project but others who desire may contact Donna Thompson to join in gifting the staff at The Growing Place with notes of encouragement and a goodie bag/gift cards/something to show our appreciation for their dedication
8. Meals For Seniors
The New Horizons (11:00) Sunday School Class will be taking this as a class project but others who desire may contact Michelle Gray
Working in pairs, participants are to pick up meals from Angie's and deliver to the assigned people. With Covid, all persons wear mask, and social distance by staying outside to talk with homeowner. Conversation should be intentional.
9. Water and Dog Biscuits In The Park
Take bottles of water and dog biscuits to parks and ball fields and hand them out with intentional conversation as a goal!
This is a great project if your child has a ballgame on May 1 and you can’t participate otherwise.
10. Flowers for Our Shut-ins
The Genesis SS Class
Plant flowers and deliver to our Shut-ins to bring some sunshine to their day!
11. Nursery Care for Participants with kids-Infants to 3 years old.
