There will be NO Services, Meetings, Activities, or Events until further notice held on the church campus.
We are limiting traffic to our church facilities to reduce the chances of exposure.
Dear Aversboro family,
The advisory team met this past Tuesday night to discuss how and when the church should reopen. We discussed things like how to move people from parking lots to the sanctuary safely, starting back with worship only, and how to sanitize between services. Right now, we are monitoring churches that have reopened cautiously, especially those in other states that are weeks ahead of us to see if any outbreaks occur. The team will be developing a plan to follow CDC and North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services guidelines to implement when we do open up. What that means is that church will have to be a little different, requiring your help. We have asked members to be patient while at home, you will be asked to be more patient, understanding, and compliant when we reopen.
To reopen all members of the church will be asked to sacrifice some of your ideals/personal preferences for a season out of love for others. This could be abstaining from shaking hands and hugging, wearing a mask, keeping six feet away from others, or even sitting in a different pew. 1 Cor 8:9 says “Be careful, however, that your freedom does not become a stumbling block to the weak.” Each person will need to be willing to accept precautions for the benefit of others.
We will ask everyone to practice humility during the time of reopening. The advisory team is working hard to return things to normal, but it is an uphill battle. We are having to wait on the latest information while balancing moving forward safely concerning an issue we have never faced before. James 1:19 says “be quick to hear, slow to speak, slow to anger.” We don’t need negative evaluations or destructive comments scrutinizing our best efforts to safely reopen the church; we want to be back as much as you do. Remember we are having to separate emotions from our decision-making process. Please exercise humility and patience during the weeks and months ahead. Remember, you and I are the church; it is not simply the brick and mortar planted on 1600 Aversboro Road. Our fellowship is the church.
Ephesians 4:1-3“Walk in a manner worthy of the calling to which you have been called, with all humility and gentleness, with patience, bearing with one another in love, eager to maintain the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace.” May God bless us as we navigate the road to return to the church.
Your pastor and friend,
Dr. Jeffrey D. Sholar

Sunday School Groups, Committees, and Ministry Teams have a few options . Phone calls and text messaging are great ways to connect. Today, we have some fantastic ways to connect with one another visually - FaceTime, Google Hangout, Zoom, WebEx, Slack, and others are great online platforms to use for groups to meet! Most are fortunate today to have access to smartphones, tablets, and computers! We encourage groups to share prayer requests and to keep in touch with one another using the many different ways available. If you need assistance in selecting or setting up one of these platforms, email Pastor Joe at email@example.com
